The UK-based Sipp provider has named Peter Docherty as interim chief executive and executive director of the group with immediate effect, pending regulatory approval.

This means that current executive chairman David Barral will revert back to the role of non-executive chairman.

Docherty was most recently chief executive and managing director of the Embark Platform, while previously serving as chief executive and risk officer of Alliance Trust Savings.

This comes as wrap platform Nucleus agreed to acquire Curtis Banks Group for a total equity value of £242m ($287m, €273m).

GSB Capital

Dean Kemble has been promoted to chief commercial officer at the Dubai-headquartered advice firm.

He joined the business in October 2021 as managing partner. Prior to that, he spent over seven years in senior roles at Friends Provident International.

SFC

Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission has promoted Keith Choy, current senior director of intermediaries, to interim head of intermediaries.

He will oversee the intermediaries division pending the appointment of an executive director to head the division, following Julia Leung’s promotion to chief executive of the regulator.

Choy has been at the watchdog since 1998.

Sentient International

The Isle of Man-based trust services provider has hired David Solly as managing director.

He joins from Dohle Corporate Services, where he spent nearly three years as a business development manager.

First Sentier Investors

The investment firm has recruited Jane Daniel as chief risk officer, based in London.

She was previously at Aegon Asset Management, where she served as global chief risk and compliance officer.

Carmignac

The French asset manager has named Lloyd McAllister as head of sustainable investment.

He joins from Newton Investment Management, where he worked for four years, most recently as head of ESG research.

Edentree Investment Management

The UK-based asset manager has made two senior promotions within its distribution team.

Adrian Judge will take on the role of head of international distribution; he was previously head of wholesale and FIG distribution.

Regional sales director James Tomlinson will become head of wholesale distribution for the UK.

Nucleus Financial

Chris Macdonald has been promoted to business development director, key accounts, at the adviser platform.

He most recently was business development director for London, and has been at the company since 2006, when he joined as an IFA account manager.

Hoxton Capital Management

Peter Shaw has taken on the role of senior wealth manager at the Dubai-based advice firm.

He joins from Genesis Insurance Brokers (previously Goodwill Insurance Brokers), where he served as chief executive and general manager for just under two years.

LGT Wealth Management

The wealth management arm of LGT has promoted Finn Hunt to business development manager.

He joined the company in July 2021 as a trainee.

Tom Naratil has decided to step down from his current roles as co-president of global wealth management and president of UBS Americas, effective 3 October 2022.

He has spent 39 years at the wealth management giant.

Iqbal Khan will become sole president of global wealth management, effective 3 October.

He has served alongside Naratil as co-president since 2019.

Also, Naureen Hassan will join UBS from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and will succeed Naratil as president of UBS Americas and chief executive of UBS Americas.

Axa Investment Managers

Laurent Clavel has been promoted to global head of multi-asset, effective 1 September 2022.

He is currently Head of Axa IM’s quant lab.

Clavel will take over from Serge Pizem, who will pursue new professional challenges outside Axa IM.

Lombard Odier

The private banking group has named Vincent Magnenat as global head of strategic alliances for its private client operation.

He is currently limited partner and chief executive of Asia at Lombard Odier.

In other news, Francis Liu will join Lombard Odier as chief executive of private clients Asia.

In this capacity, he will also be chief executive of Singapore. Liu joins from UBS Wealth Management in Hong Kong.

Indosuez Wealth Management

Bonaventura Canino has been appointed chief executive of the wealth manager’s Italian operation.

He succeeds Marco Migliore who will continue his career at Indosuez, having successfully completed his mandate in Italy.

Credit Suisse Asset Management

The asset manager has named Jamie Lewin as head of investment process and oversight.

He joins Credit Suisse from BNY Mellon in New York, where he has held various leadership positions over the past 14 years, most recently as head of investor solutions.

Value Partners Group

The asset manager has named Vincent Ching as head of intermediaries for Asia Pacific.

Ching was previously the group’s head of Hong Kong for retail distribution, a position he has held since 2019.

He will replace Wallace Tsang, who has decided to step back from his current responsibilities due to family reasons.

Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management

The firm has made two hires to its equity team to strengthen its investment capacities.

Alexis Bossard joins the equity team as a portfolio manager and analyst.

Prior to joining Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management, he worked for seven years at Crédit Mutuel CIC Asset Management.

Guillaume Laconi also joins the equity team as a portfolio manager and analyst.

Prior to joining Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management, he worked for 10 years at CA Indosuez Gestion.

EdenTree Investment Management

The specialist responsible and sustainable asset manager has hired three regional sales directors to its wholesale and FIG distribution team.

James Tomlinson and Tom Culhane both join from BMO Global Asset Management, while Louise Slade joins from Investec.

Also, Matthew Parlour joins EdenTree as responsible and sustainable specialist from Invesco Perpetual.

Liontrust

Claude Ewen has joined the fund manager as international sales director to expand the asset manager’s distribution in Europe with a focus on Germany and Austria.

Ewen spent seven years at Columbia Threadneedle and prior to that was senior sales manager at Fidelity Worldwide Investment.

Kingswood

The advice group has hired Jessica McGuigan as a wealth planner based at the firm’s Abingdon office.

She has over seven years’ experience in the financial services industry, having most recently been personal wealth adviser at Schroders Personal Wealth.

GBST

The fintech firm has hired Stacey Kelly as chief financial officer and promoted Marie Maky to chief people officer (CPO).

Kelly’s most recent role was as the chief financial officer of Mainstream Group.

Maky joined GBST as senior HR business partner in August 2020.

Phoenix Group

The UK long-term savings and retirement business has recruited Tim Fassam as public affairs director, effective 30 August 2022.

Fassam joins from Pimfa, the trade association for financial advisors and wealth managers, where he was director of government relations and policy.

The Swiss private bank has hired six relationship managers to drive growth in Hispanic America.

The group will form a team under the leadership of Philipp Frischknecht, who will report to Andrea Cuomo, sub-region head Hispanic America; which includes Chile, Argentina, Peru and Colombia, among other markets.

The team will operate from Zurich.

Frischknecht joins from Credit Suisse where he headed the private banking international segment for Latin America.

He will be joined by senior relationship manager Rodolfo Lizarraga Delgado, who previously worked at BBVA; along with relationship managers Ricardo Amorin, Jurgen Ritz, Horacio Ruiz Moreno and Alejandro Moreno Basols who all also worked at Credit Suisse.

Credit Suisse

The Swiss bank has made five appointments to grow its ESG strategy team.

Michael van der Meer, Angela Saxby, Sina Dorner-Müller and Timothy Oehmigen will join the bank from Robeco; while Karim Sayyad will join from Nordea.

In their new roles, they will join the existing team of specialists who are responsible for the development and oversight of Credit Suisse’s ESG Investment Framework, and who have built the ESG Hub which acts as the bank’s centre of expertise.

In addition, they will advance and consolidate Credit Suisse’s ESG practices and procedures, support an integrated ESG house view by industry sector, provide opinions on single securities.

Van der Meer will act as head of ESG analysis and lead the team. He was most recently head of sustainable investment research at Robeco.

Based in Zurich, they will report into Daniel Wild, global head of ESG strategy.

Manulife Hong Kong

As part of the expansion of the firm’s distribution capabilities in Hong Kong and Macau, Ivan Chan has been promoted to chief agency officer and Tracy Leung hired as chief partnership distribution officer.

Chan joined the company in 1999 and assumed the CAO role on 1 January. He succeeds Kareen Chow who retired after 30 years with Manulife.

Leung brings with her 24 years’ industry experience, having most recently been managing director, head of bancassurance at Standard Chartered Bank.

Jupiter Asset Management

Abbie Llewellyn-Waters has been appointed to the new role of head of sustainable investing.

With over 15 years of sustainable investment experience, she has managed the Jupiter Global Sustainable Equities fund since inception.

Llewellyn-Waters will lead the firm’s sustainable investing capability, while retaining a clear focus on managing the global sustainable equity strategy.

Feeding into the work of Edward Bonham Carter, who has taken on a new role focusing on the company’s stewardship and corporate responsibility activities, she will continue to play an important role in shaping best practice across the business.

In addition, fund manager Rhys Petheram has been promoted to the new role of head of environment solutions.

The changes were driven by the decision of head of strategy, environment and sustainability, Charlie Thomas, to leave Jupiter after 20 years with the company.

Following Thomas’ departure, Jon Wallace will be promoted to fund manager, taking over responsibility for the Jupiter Ecology Fund, Jupiter Responsible Income Fund and the equity segment of the mixed asset Jupiter Global Ecology Diversified fund.

Wallace worked with his predecessor for more than 10 years.

EdenTree

Charlie Thomas’s departure from Jupiter will quickly be followed by him joining EdenTree as chief investment officer in the second quarter of 2021.

One of his first tasks will be reinvigorating the firm’s product range and make it ready for the next phase of growth as it seeks to expand its influence in the responsible and sustainable investment space.

Thomas will take over from Sue Round, who has held the role on an interim basis following the departure of Robin Hepworth last year.

Netwealth

In another spill-over from changes at Jupiter Asset Management, Edward Bonham Carter has been named chairman of wealth manager Netwealth.

Bonham Carter spent 25 years at Jupiter, culminating in seven years as group chief executive and six years as vice chairman.

RBC Wealth Management

Gail McCourt has become head of private client fiduciary services for the British Isles business of RBC Wealth Management.

She has been tasked with leading the fiduciary management and technical trust teams in the Channel Islands, providing solutions to help clients preserve their wealth and create a meaningful legacy.

Based in Jersey, she will report to RBC Europe chief executive Dave Thomas.

McCourt joined RBC in 2003 and has held a number of roles; including head of marketing, head of regional market and head of client experience. Most recently, she was head of fiduciary management.

IQ-EQ

The investor services group has promoted Frederique ‘Freddy’ Meyer to deputy managing director of its Switzerland business.

Based in Zurich, she joined the group’s private wealth division as a director in 2014.

Brewin Dolphin

The discretionary wealth manager has named Davina Rich as head of research, succeeding Guy Foster who has become chief strategist, both with immediate effect.

Rich joined the firm in 2019 as investment director, having spend over 20 years in the investment management industry as an analyst, institutional asset manager and private client investment manager.

Foster moves from head of research to lead the investment solutions team.

Alpha FMC

The asset and wealth management consulting firm has hired Keith Aylwin as a director in the pensions and retail investment leadership team, with a focus on technology and transformation.

He joins from EY, where he led the life and pensions technology transformation practice for five years.

The Aegon group subsidiary has announced that Marc Lieberman, chief executive and president, will retire at the end of the year.

Lieberman will remain to support a transition until 31 December 2020.

Pending regulatory approval, Chirag Rathod, TLB’s current chief financial officer, will take on the role of chief executive, and Hazel Etherington, TLB’s current chief operations officer, will assume the role of.

Together they will form the executive committee of TLB, which will be chaired by the chief executive.

Eastspring Investments

The Prudential subsidiary has named Polly Wang as its Taipei-based chief executive for Taiwan.

Wang was at Nomura Asset Management, where she was chief executive for Taiwan.

She replaces Loretta Ng, who was the firm’s Taiwan chief executive since 2011 and had been with Eastspring for 19 years.

Nomura Asset Management

Replacing Wang at Nomura Asset Management is Michelle Maa, who will be assuming her role as Taiwan chief executive

Maa was at Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI), where she was the firm’s Taiwan head.

EdenTree Investment Management

The responsible and sustainable investment manager will appoint a new chief investment officer as Robin Hepworth steps down from the position on 1 November 2020.

Hepworth has been with EdenTree for over three decades and is seeking to reduce his level of responsibilities at the firm.

He will remain within the business and will focus on his primary role as senior fund manager, focusing on property, while continuing to support the Higher Income Fund.

Sue Round, deputy chairman, will take on the role of acting chief investment officer, while one is identified and appointed.

Chris Hiorns, senior fund manager, will take lead manager responsibilities on the Higher Income Fund.

Ocorian

The global financial services provider has hired Ben Hill as managing director of its Guernsey office.

Hill joins Ocorian from Northern Trust, where he was a managing director of the firm’s business in Guernsey.

Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment

Jacqueline Lockie, head of financial planning, will be leaving the CISI at the end of the year, having spent more than four years at the organisation.

Christopher Morris will remain as deputy head of financial planning, until a replacement head of financial planning is appointed.

Walker Crips Wealth Management

The Walker Crips Group subsidiary has hired James Bonarius to strengthen the firm’s wealth management division.

Bonarius joins from Tilney, and was previously at Pen-Life Associates as a senior paraplanner.

Gibraltar Financial Services Commission

The regulator has named Stephen Haddrill as chairman.

He was the chief executive UK Financial Reporting Council (FRC) for 10 years before retiring from the position in October 2019.

Somerset Capital Management

The global emerging markets equities specialist has appointed Fergus Argyle as a senior analyst and assistant manager of the Somerset Frontier Markets Strategy.

He joins from Mobius Capital Partners, where he was an investment manager.

Capital Group

The investment firm has named Nadia Grant as a portfolio manager in the firm’s capital solutions group investment team.

Prior to joining Capital Group, Grant was head of Emea-based US equities at Columbia Threadneedle Investments.

The insurer has made several changes to its executive board and global c-suites. 

The global business platforms will be headed by current Apac chief executive Jack Howell, effective from 1 January 2021. 

Ping An Technology top boss Ericson Chan will lead the planning, development and operation of the technological functions and online ecosystem, as the group chief information and digital officer. 

Kathleen Savio, current chief executive of North America, will take on the newly created role of group chief transformation officer from 1 January 2021. 

Kristof Terryn will succeed Savio in the c-suite role; he is currently chief operating officer. 

Tulsi Naidu will take over as Apac chief executive, after leading Zurich’s UK business for the past four years. 

Lastly, Laurence Maurice joins the insurer in the top job for LatAm; she previously held a similar role for Allianz covering Spain and southern European. 

Hargreaves Lansdown 

Head of research Mark Dampier has left Hargreaves Lansdown. 

He was the architect of the firm’s Wealth 150 list and a champion of the Woodford Equity Income Fund before it was suspended in June 2019. 

Dampier said, however, that he will be back from time to time to “share his thoughts” with Hargreaves’ clients. 

Transact 

The co-founder of platform Transact, Ian Taylor, is to retire after more than two decades at the firm.

He will step down as an executive director from 26 February 2021. 

Quilter International  

Hugh McGrenra, head of high net worth distribution, will leave the business in October 2020. 

He is currently based in Dubai and is looking for the next chapter in his career, according to a recent post on LinkedIn. 

Tilney Smith & Williamson 

Newly merged UK wealth management firm Tilney Smith & Williamson has hired John Bunch as chief commercial director for financial services. 

He will relocate to the UK from the US, where he spent 30 years in financial services. 

Most recently, he was chief operating officer and executive vice president of Edelman Financial Engines. 

Edentree Investment Management 

Responsible and sustainable investment firm Edentree has recruited Andy Clark as chief executive. 

He joins from HSBC Global Asset Management where he held the top job for the last eight years. 

Clark will succeed Sue Rond, deputy chair, who has been working as acting chief executive. 

Manulife 

Canada-based Manulife board member Rona Ambrose has resigned. 

She has accepted a full-time employment position, details of which were not disclosed. 

Beaufort Financial 

Financial advisory firm Beaufort Financial has named Gwilym Lloyd Jones as director of its north Wales firm, Beaufort Financial St Asaph & Chester. 

He takes over from managing director and founder Stephen Lyth, who is set to retire after 38 years in the financial planning sector. 

Jones was previously at Sanlam where he served for over 10 years and was most recently a senior financial planner. 

Barnett Waddingham 

David Stoddard has become Barnett Waddingham’s chief operating officer. 

He succeeds Jane Galvin, current partner, who is retiring at the end of 2020 after spending over a decade at the company. 

Stoddard joins the provider of actuarial, administration and consultancy services from independent technology consultancy Baringa Partners, where he led the life and pensions team. 

Succession Holdings 

Independent wealth management and financial planning business Succession Holding Jersey has appointed Patrick Gale as non-executive chairman. 

He has over 30 years’ experience in financial services including several non-executive and advisory roles, as well as c-suite positions.
