The wealth manager has announced that chief financial officer Ben Thorpe and chief operating officer Lynsey Cross will depart in the coming months, with both leaving the company’s board immediately.

Thorpe has been chief financial officer since August 2018, having joined after four years as head of finance at Brewin Dolphin. The search for his successor is underway, and he will continue in the role until one is found.

Cross joined as chief operating officer in May 2020, having held the same role at insurance provider Amtrust International. She also spent four-and-a-half years as chief executive of ANV Group.

Much of the operational side of the business is now outsourced, so the directors do not currently intend to appoint a board-level replacement for Cross.

Rathbones Group

The UK investment manager has named Anne-Marie McConnon as chief client officer.

She will join the company in May 2023 from BNY Mellon Investment Management, where she held the position of global chief marketing and client experience officer.

Allfunds

The wealthtech platform has appointed Tom Wooders as UK country head.

Prior to Allfunds, Wooders was group head of sales at Titan Wealth with responsibility for business development across all of Titan’s entities including Titan Asset Management, Titan Wealth Solutions and GPP.

Credit Suisse

The banking group has named Edwin Tan, the incumbent market leader for wealth management in Thailand, as the new head of the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, according to an internal memo seen by our sister publication Fund Selector Asia.

He will continue to be based in Thailand and take on additional responsibilities, starting 1 February.

Tan will report to Benjamin Cavalli, the head of wealth management for Asia Pacific at Credit Suisse.

The market leader for the Philippines, Sacha Eugster, will report to Tan after the organisational change.

In his expanded role, Tan will spend time in Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand and the Philippines.

The current market group head for the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, Marcus Sloor, will be relocating back to Europe for family reasons and pursuing a new opportunity within the bank after spending nine years in the Singapore office, according to the statement.

Charles Stanley

The wealth manager has hired four financial planners across the UK.

Harry Bell joins the team in Manchester from Close Brothers Asset Management. John Moseley will join the Charles Stanley’s Leeds office from Allots Chartered Accountants, where he was an IFA.

Stephen Hughes also joins Charles Stanley in Edinburgh from Schroders Personal Wealth, and Gary Quick joins the Exeter office from Francis Clark Financial Planning.

Mediolanum International Funds

The European asset management platform of Mediolanum Banking Group has named Giorgio Carlino as head of multi management.

He has 22 years of experience in the industry and has held a variety of roles in his career, including fund of funds portfolio manager for Commerzbank, portfolio manager at RAS Asset Management in Milan, and multiple roles at Allianz Global Investors, including, most recently, global chief investment officer for multi-asset strategies.

Carlino succeeds Bish Limbu who will continue to serve as an adviser to the firm working closely with the multi manager team.

Boal & Co

Erica Power has joined the international retirement benefit solution provider as head of business development at its Gibraltar office.

She joins Boal & Co from Abacus Financial Services in Gibraltar.

Walker Crips Group

The financial services firm has hired Shane Bennett as head of investment strategy.

He joins from Exeter-based Cathedral Financial Management, where he joined in July 2012 as a research analyst and rose to head of investment.

Affinity Private Wealth

The Jersey-based firm has hired Elizabeth Shaw as associate director in its trust team.

Shaw joins from Bedell Cristin, where she was a senior associate.

Axa Investment Managers

Olivier Paquier has been appointed global head of ETF sales, effective immediately.

He was previously at State Street and JP Morgan Asset Management.

David Dalton-Brown will step down as chief executive of the cross-industry financial services membership body.

He will leave for family reasons after five years at the helm of the organisation and 13 years at Tisa in total.

Tisa Group’s operations will now be focused into two streams, with the creation of two advisory boards: one for the traditional membership business unit, which includes Tisa’s strategic, policy and events work, and one for the rapidly growing digital business unit, which includes Tisa’s digital initiatives and Tisa Delivery Entities (TDEs).

Both will be overseen, as currently, by the Tisa Group board.

Carol Knight, currently chief operating officer at Tisa, will take over as chief executive of the Tisa traditional membership business unit, and Harry Weber-Brown, digital innovation director at Tisa, will become chief executive of Tisa’s digital business unit.

Gary Bond remains chief executive of TDE, TISAtech and TURN.

Tony Stenning remains as chairman of Tisa Group, with oversight of all of Tosa’s workstreams, entities and policy pillars.

Knight and Weber-Brown will act as co-chief executives of Tisa Group and sit on the Tisa Group board.

Charles Stanley

The wealth manager has hired Dan Ellis as director of investment management services (IMS) in London.

Prior to joining Charles Stanley, Ellis worked as a senior consultant advising on projects for wealth management businesses such as Tilney Smith & Williamson.

Nuveen

The asset manager has named Saira Malik as chief investment officer.

She joined Nuveen in 2003.

Mediolanum International Funds Limited (MIFL)

The European asset management platform of Mediolanum Banking Group has appointed Luca Matassino as chief business officer.

Most recently, Matassino was head of sales at Eurovita Spa, an independent life insurance company owned by Cinven.

FinoComp

The software development company owned by Bravura Solutions has promoted Mike Baker to the role of managing director.

He was head of product.

Ray Tubman will continue as a special adviser at Bravura supporting the transition process during the first half of this year before stepping down in June 2022.

Franklin Templeton

Anne Simpson has been named as global head of sustainability.

She joins the firm from the California Public Employees Retirement System (Calpers), where she served as managing investment director for board governance and sustainability.

Citi

The banking group has named Li-Gang Liu as Asia Pacific head of economic analysis for its wealth arm.

Prior to this role, Liu was Citi research’s chief economist for China from 2016.

Brewin Dolphin

The UK wealth manager has promoted current investment director Janet Mui to head of market analysis.

She will continue curating market insight updates to help develop and grow Brewin Dolphin’s relationship with advisers across the 32-office network.

Robeco

The asset manager has named Thu Ha Chow to the newly created role of head of fixed income Asia.

Prior to joining Robeco in 2022, Chow was portfolio manager and Asia strategist at Loomis Sayles & Co.

Francesco De Ferrari will become chief executive of Credit Suisse’s wealth management division, effective from 1 January 2022.

He will also take on the role of ad interim chief executive of Emea. De Ferrari joins from AMP, where he served in a similar position from December 2018 to June 2021.

Additionally, Christian Meissner, chief executive of the investment banking arm, will become chief executive of the Americas.

Helman Sitohang and André Helfenstein have also been named chief executives of Apac and Switzerland, respectively.

Quilter Investors

Quilter’s multi-asset investment arm has hired Marcus Brookes as chief investment officer.

He joins from Schroders Private Wealth, where he held a similar role. He will be responsible for the company’s portfolio management desk.

Brookes succeeds Bambos Hambi, who will retire at the end of the year.

Allfunds

Ignacio Izquierdo Saugar has taken on the role of regional manager for Iberia and Latin America at the wealthtech firm.

He will be responsible for managing relationships with 278 institutional clients.

He succeeds Laura González, who headed the two regions on top of her role as global head of wealth management. González will now focus on Allfunds’ global expansion.

Saugar joins from Aviva, where he was chief executive of its Italian arm, and previously of its Spanish arm.

Mercer

The asset manager has made three senior hires within its investment teams.

Adam Lane and Jemma Beattie will join the investment advisory team as principals to meet growing demand from clients looking to refine their de-risking journey and investment strategies.

Alexa Shanks will take on the role of head of intermediary relations, a newly created position.

Lane was previously at PWC where he led the investment practice. Beattie was at Hymans Robertson, where she worked as an investment consultant as actuary; while Shanks was most recently at Invesco as a consultant relations director.

Blackfinch

The Gloucester-based investment firm has recruited Wayne Readshaw as executive business development manager.

He joins from Time Investment where he spent sic years as a senior business development manager.

Schroders Private Wealth

The advice joint venture of Schroders and Lloyds is expanding its presence across the UK with hired in Yorkshire and Oxford.

Mark Shay will lead the business development and partnership proposition in Yorkshire. He joins from Barclays Wealth, where he led business development across the north of England.

In Oxford, Benjamin Beck, Sophie Haslehurst and Katie Nutting have all taken on the role of financial adviser.

Carey Olsen

The offshore law firm has hired Stephanie Bernard as counsel in its trust and private wealth team in Bermuda.

Before joining, she worked at another offshore firm in Bermuda for 15 years.

Eastspring Investments

Prudential’s asset management business has recruited Stuart Wilson as head of sustainability.

He will be based in Singapore and his appointment will be effective from 10 January 2022, subject to regulatory approvals.

Wilson was previously at Australian superannuation fund Sunsuper, where he worked as head of responsible investing.

Mediolanum International Funds

The European asset management platform of Mediolanum Banking Group has appointed Jeremy Humphries as head of quantitative investments.

He will be based in Dublin. He joins from Davy Global Fund Management, where he worked as a portfolio manager.

Nathalie Flury and Michael Schröter have been named co-heads of sustainable healthcare equity.

They are based in Switzerland and will be responsible for establishing a sustainable healthcare investment strategy, as the firm eyes the introduction of a sustainable healthcare fund.

Flury and Schröter join from Viopas Partner, a Swiss asset manager, where they served as founding partners.

Momentum Global Investment Management

Andrew Hardy has been promoted to director of investment management.

He will oversee the firm’s investments team and be responsible for managing key relationships with clients and partners.

Hardy has been at Momentum Global since 2005 holding several senior positions.

Stonehage Fleming

The family office recruited Steven Brown as director of group business development.

He will be tasked with the distribution of the firm’s flagship Global Best Ideas Equity fund into the UK wholesale market.

Brown joins from Merian Global Investors where he served as wholesale and discretionary sales director.

Aberdeen Standard Investments

Aberdeen Standard Investments promoted Katie Trowsdale to head of multi-manager strategies.

She has been a member of the multi-manager solutions team for nine years and held senior roles within the team for seven.

Mediolanum International Funds

Bish Limbu joined the Dublin-based asset management platform as head of multi-manager function.

He will oversee a team of portfolio managers covering multi-manager equity, fixed income and multi-asset strategies, as well as the research team.

Limbu was most recently a senior fund manager at Octopus Investments.

Carmignac

Abdellah Bouziane has taken on the role of global head of compliance at the French independent asset manager.

He will lead compliance in all seven of the European countries in which the firm operates.

Prior to joining, Bouziane spent 13 years at Axa Investment Managers holding various senior compliance roles.

Butterfield

Bermuda-headquartered wealth manager Butterfield expanded its trust team with two senior appointments.

Amy Glover, based in London, will become vice president of strategic relations for group trust, while Mark Farrell will join as head of trust in Singapore.

Most recently, Glover was global director of private client at ALM/Legal Week, while Farrell served as head of trusts for ultra-high net worths at Bank of Singapore.

Main Street Partners

The ESG advisory and portfolio analytics specialist firm named Liron Mannie as research analyst.

She joins from PwC where she worked as a senior associate in the sustainability and climate change consulting division.

The financial planning and advice teams at the Standard Life Aberdeen subsidiary will be jointly led by Colin Dyer and Neil Messenger, with a focus on clients and growth.

Dyer has been with 1825 since 2015, and the wider Standard Life Aberdeen group since 1991.

Messenger joined 1825 as part of the acquisition of Grant Thornton last year.

Under the changes, functions including paraplanning, client administration and technology services will now report into Karen Clews, who joined 1825 in 2019.

RBC Wealth Management

The wealth firm has hired two fixed income specialists as it continues to enhance its advisory investment solutions for private banking clients in Asia.

Shawn Sim has joined RBC Wealth Management’s investment solutions and products team in Singapore as head of fixed income advisory.

He re-joins RBC from HSBC Private Bank, where he was a fixed income adviser.

Joining Sim, and reporting to him, is Kennard Ling.

Ling joins as fixed income specialist from Citibank Singapore, where he was part of the advisory and trading desk responsible for business growth across Asia-Pacific.

Prior to that, Ling was a corporate sales analyst for FX and rates at Standard Chartered Bank.

National Friendly

Toney Quinn has been named as business development manager.

He spent seven years with The Exeter as a key accounts manager, and prior to that, he was an intermediary sales manager at AXA PPP.

Quinn also worked at Canada Life, where he was appointed strategic accounts manager.

Mediolanum International Funds

The European asset management platform of Mediolanum Banking Group has appointed Karoline Keane as head of product development, and Alberto Nova as head of marketing and communications.

Keane joins from Man Group, where before being director for product development in the global sales product management business.

Nova joins from Legg Mason, where he worked as the marketing head for Italy and Iberia region, as well as European marketing manager for Invesco.

Brewin Dolphin

The firm’s Bristol office has hired Jonathan May as a financial planner.

He has over 27 years of experience and joins Brewin Dolphin from Hargreaves Lansdown, where he was a senior adviser helping high net worth individuals and businesses.
