Harpreet Bindra has been named as chief executive of HSBC Life (Singapore).

He will succeed Ho Lee Yen, who has decided to spend more time with her family, having successfully completed the integration of the businesses of AXA Singapore and HSBC Insurance.

Bindra joined HSBC in 2018.

Ocorian

The financial services provider has appointed Chantal Free as chief executive.

Free joins Ocorian from Capita, where she was chief executive of its portfolio division.

Sesame Bankhall Group (SBG)

The group has appointed Richard Harrison as chief executive.

He will join SBG from Wesleyan Assurance Society, where he is currently chief distribution officer.

Harrison joins SBG on 2 January 2024, at which point current interim chief executive John Cowan will resume his role as chair of the SBG board.

Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (Finma)

Urban Angehrn will step down at the end of September 2023 as chief executive.

It has appointed deputy chief executive Birgit Rutishauser as chief executive ad interim with effect from 1 October 2023.

Angehrn will be at her disposal to ensure an orderly handover of all business and for follow-up to the takeover of Credit Suisse by UBS.

The board of directors has begun the process of filling the position of Finma chief executive.

Amundi

The asset manager has named Pierre Jond as chief executive of Amundi Luxembourg and chairman of Fund Channel, the B2B fund distribution platform jointly owned by Amundi and Caceis.

Before joining Amundi, Jond was head of France and Belgium region with BNP Paribas Securities Services.

Jond replaces Jeanne Duvoux, who has been appointed head of business support and operations for Amundi Group.

Fairstone Group

Peter Donaldson has been named as managing director of the firm’s partnership channel.

He moves from his current role as a Fairstone divisional director. Donaldson joined the business in 2021.

St James’s Place (SJP)

Joe Wiggins has been named as director of investment research for the wealth manager.

He will join SJP on 12 September and previously worked as chief investment officer at Fundhouse.

Seven Investment Management (7IM)

The wealth manager has appointed Agustin Fernandez as managing director for corporate and strategy development.

He joins from HSBC, where he was head of Emea wealth and asset management wealth tech within the investment banking division for four years. Fernandez joined HSBC in 2011.

Professional Wealth Management

The IWP-owned firm has hired Alex Tait and Will Welch as financial advisers.

The duo were previously professional rugby players for Newcastle Falcons.

Ascot Lloyd

The IFA group has appointed Jaco Cebula as group technology officer.

For the past 18 months, Cebula has worked closely with the Ascot Lloyd team in his role as a technology consultant for Sionic, a global consulting firm.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)

The Singapore regulator has appointed Chia Der Jiun as managing director.

Chia takes over from Ravi Menon, who will retire from the Singapore Public Service and step down as managing director.

He is currently Permanent Secretary (Development) at the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), had previously spent 18 years at MAS, where he played a leadership role across MAS’ major functions, including monetary policy implementation, reserve management, banking supervision, prudential policy, and macroeconomic surveillance.

Nedgroup Investments

The global asset manager has expanded its international distribution team with the hiring of Rachel Ferguson as client solutions lead, effective September.

Prior to joining Nedgroup, Ferguson worked as a business development manager at Aegon Asset Management (formally Kames Capital) and was with the firm for a total of seven years.

Rothschild & Co

The financial services giant has hired Alfredo Pérez de Quesada Garrido as a senior client adviser in Spain.

He has over 18 years’ experience in the financial industry and joins from Credit Suisse (Madrid).

Also, Rothschild & Co has hired five client advisers in its wealth management business in Zurich, to focus mainly on clients from Central and Eastern Europe. The new team joins from Credit Suisse.

The team is headed by Gerold Reiser, who has over 18 years’ experience as a private banker.

Alongside Reiser, the four other client advisers joining Rothschild & Co are Maciej Wiackowski, Magdalena Majewska Koch, Viktors Bolbats and Lars Lang.

Square Mile

The research and consulting firm has appointed Maria Mealing as a business development director.

Mealing has over 30 years’ industry experience, most recently as associate director at Janus Henderson.

Walker Crips Financial Planning

Matthew Crawshaw and Kaz Dev have joined the firm as regional director for the Midlands and assistant director in the south west region, respectively.

Crawshaw joins from Abrdn, where he was regional director for the north and midlands.

Dev joins from Francis Clark Financial Planning, where he served as head of professional services and chartered financial planner.

Third Financial

The investment platform has named David Lewis as chairman of its regulated entity Third Platform Services.

Most recently, he was managing director at BNY Mellon in London.

The insurance group has named Jeremy Porter as group chief risk officer.

He joins FWD from Axa, where he was chief risk officer, Hong Kong and Macau.

Porter succeeds Niall Grady, who had been serving as interim group chief risk officer as well as group chief compliance officer since April 2022.

Grady will remain in his role of group chief compliance officer and will report to Porter.

Amundi

The asset manager has bolstered its managerial teams in Europe.

Cinzia Tagliabue has been appointed chairman of Amundi Italy’s board of directors, Gabriele Tavazzani named chief executive of Amundi in Italy, and Franck Du Plessi appointed chief executive of Amundi in Austria.

Novia Global

David Field has been promoted to director of proposition and development at the platform, according to his Linkedin profile.

He was previously director of business management and IT.

IWP

The UK advice consolidator has announced David Inglesfield left the firm on 31 December when his role as chair of IWP Investments came to an end.

Inglesfield was previously chief executive of IWP.

IWP has not named his replacement as chair of IWP Investments yet.

LGT Wealth Management

The wealth manager has appointed Adam Burniston as lead portfolio manager of its model portfolio service (MPS).

Previously a portfolio manager at Sanlam, formerly Thesis Asset Management, he managed a range of multi-manager MPS propositions, multiple private fund-of-funds and was head of the investment risk committee.

Evelyn Partners

The wealth management and professional services group has hired David Rankin as managing partner covering its Edinburgh and Aberdeen offices.

Rankin joins Evelyn Partners from Investec’s Edinburgh office, where he was most recently senior wealth planning director.

Julius Baer

The private banking group has expanded in its Swiss home market and has formed a new sub-market for the regions of Aargau and Solothurn.

As of 1 January 2023, Claude Luethi joined Julius Baer as head of this market, which he will build up and manage from Zurich, and also Josef Zellweger started at Julius Baer to set up an area for advising Swiss non-profit foundations.

Luethi joins Julius Baer from Credit Suisse Switzerland, where he had held various specialist and management positions in private banking since 2002. Zellweger was previously at Credit Suisse Switzerland, where he was most recently as head of partnerships, foundations and acquisitions for six years.

Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM)

Simon Long has joined the wealth firm as an investment director.

He joins from Investec Wealth & Investment, where he predominantly managed investments for advisers and private clients within a variety of wrappers.

BlackRock

The fund management giant has named James Raby as Apac head of wealth.

Holding more than 15 years’ experience at the firm including leadership roles across strategy, corporate development, finance and audit in London, San Francisco, New York and Hong Kong.

Nedbank Private Wealth

The wealth firm has made four appointments to its private banking team as part of a planned expansion in its Jersey office.

Richard Tribe has been appointed as a senior private banker and brings more than 35 years’ experience in the offshore financial industry.

Supporting Tribe will be Matt Gollop, who has joined the team as a private banking officer. He is experienced in working with private clients and intermediaries both locally and internationally.

Paul Treacy has been appointed as a corporate trustee relationship manager. He has more than 30 years’ experience working for major financial institutions in Jersey and will be focusing on managing and growing the business’s trust and corporate book.

Laura Love has also joined the team as a senior private banking officer. Love has 25 years’ experience in financial services, having worked previously as a relationship manager and private banker.

Rothschild & Co

The financial services firm has appointed Richard Brass to its UK wealth management business as a managing director.

He will lead a client adviser team and is joined by former colleague Becky Orme as an assistant director.

Brass was Berenberg’s UK head of wealth and asset management.

Orme began her career at Berenberg in 2010 in mid office operations and client services; since 2018 she has worked as an investment adviser to ultra-high net worth private clients based in the UK and the Channel Islands.

Lombard Odier

The Swiss private banking group has hired Rogerio Zanin and Juliana Lage to its office in São Paulo.

Zanin joins Lombard Odier from Julius Baer Family Office, where he headed the commercial area and was part of the executive committee. Lage also joins Lombard Odier from Julius Baer Family Office, where she held the position of senior relationship manager.

Dynamic Planner

The risk-based financial planning tech provider has appointed Michael Whitfield as chair.

He founded Thomson Online Benefits in 2000, which he led for 17 years as chief executive.

Leo Wealth

The wealth firm has hired Vivian Hu as managing director and senior client adviser, effective 3 January.

Hu started her career in wealth management in New York, before moving to Hong Kong in 2019 to join Pictet Wealth Management.

VG

The financial services provider has made six promotions within its private wealth team.

Christie Barette has been promoted to senior manager.

James Amos, who joined VG in 2018, has been promoted to manager.

Also, Charlotte Manby has been promoted to assistant manager, Tommy Ling and Tyler Hine to trust officer and Jonathan Chamberlain to trust administrator.

Step

The global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning has named Tony Pitcher as chair,

He is chair of the Jersey Board of Altum Group.

Pitcher qualified as a chartered accountant in 1986 and over the course of his career has worked for PwC, EY, RBC and Barclays Wealth before joining Altum Group in 2014.

Old Mill

The wealth manager has hired tax specialist David Gage as partner and head of VAT.

He joins from Evelyn Partners, where he was director of VAT.

Alex Picot Trust

The trust company has promoted Solange Rebours to the board position of operations director.

Rebours joined Alex Picot Trust in 2002 as part of the acquisition of the trust company that she had worked for since 1985.

Brenda Santimano and Patricia Hope established HFL in 2014 and ran the business together as directors. The company has £252.45m ($304.8m, €298.6m) of assets under advice and an 18-strong team, including five financial advisers and four client relationship managers.

Following the deal, Santimano has been appointed chief executive of HFL with the support of Hope, who will continue in her role as a director of the business. All staff will remain in post.

Santimano said: “Over the last eight years, at HFL we have built our business to take a truly independent holistic approach to financial advice. We believe that this is integral to all areas of financial decisions and focus on building long-term relationships with our clients. Providing financial leadership in all areas from corporate care services, savings, investment portfolios and mortgages, to retirement, estate and business continuity planning is key.

“As a female-led advisory firm, I am proud to say Holistic Financial Leadership is passionate about diversity, supporting women’s leadership and enterprise. Quiet

The HFL deal is the company’s first of the year. This comes after several years of IWP being one of the main players in the UK advice M&A market since its launch in 2019.

It completed its 30th deal in December 2021 with the purchase of Throgmorton Wealth Management for an undisclosed sum.

But the deals have slowed since founder David Inglesfield stepped down as chief executive of IWP in January 2022.

He was replaced by Rob Allen as group chief executive. Inglesfield is currently chair of IWP Investments, the group’s acquisitions company.

IWP

The UK financial advice group has named Dominic Easton as chief financial officer.

He was previously chief financial officer at wealth platform consolidator Avalon, where he also oversaw Novia Financial and Wealthtime.

Skybound Wealth Management

Bryan Bann has been promoted to the role of regional manager of Switzerland at the global advice firm.

He joined Skybound in 2015 as senior consultant in Switzerland.

Hampden & Co

The UK private bank has appointed Hannah Berridge as head of professional partnerships.

She joins from C Hoare & Co, where she developed and managed partner relationships with legal, accountancy and wealth management firms, as well as serving the banking needs of clients.

Aviva Investor

The global asset management business of Aviva has recruited Sam Tripuraneni as head of sustainable outcomes.

Tripuraneni comes to Aviva Investors after seven years at BlackRock, most recently as a director in its sustainable investing team.

Eight Wealth International (EWI)

The St James’s Place partner firm has named Simon Lints as a strategic adviser based in Singapore.

Prior to joining EWI, Lints was most recently the chief executive of Schroders Wealth Management Singapore.

Oak Group

The private client, corporate services and fund administration business has appointed James Tracey as managing director of its funds business in Guernsey.

Tracey joined Oak from JTC Group in Guernsey.

Nuveen

The global investment manager has appointed Jonas Karlson and Ersen Taskiran as director and vice president of its Nordic business.

Karlson will be based in Stockholm and joins from BlackRock, where he was head of asset management client segment for the Nordic business.

Taskiran will be based in Copenhagen and was most recently chief client manager and head of sales for Nykredit Portefølje Administration.

Maven Wealth

Independent Wealth Planners’ (IWP) Welsh regional office, Maven Wealth, has promoted Gareth Tregidon to chief executive.

He was previously interim chief executive and head of financial planning at the firm.

The appointment comes in tandem with Maven’s announcement that it has rebranded to Nugenis Financial Planning from 1 May 2022.

RBC Wealth Management

Head of wealth management for southeast Asia Michael Reed will retire in June after 22 years at the firm.

Current head of private banking for north Asia Nick Chan will take on a broader remit to lead RBC WM’s sales and relationship teams across Hong Kong and Singapore, less than six months after joining the business.

As part of the push, RBC also hired Johann Peck, Audwin Tay and Betty Wong as senior bankers to provide advice and wealth management solutions to Asian families.

Hampden & Co

Jonathan Peake has joined UK private bank Hampden & Co as chief financial officer.

He was previously at Standard bank International where he held a similar role for the last six years.

Financial Conduct Authority

The UK regulator has made three senior hires.

Mel Gunewardena will take on the role of senior adviser at the FCA. He is currently chief market intelligence officer at the Commodities and Futures Trading Commission based in Washington DC.

Graeme Reynolds will become director of competition. He is currently one of the regulator’s deputy chief economists.

Simon Walls has been named interim wholesale director. He has been head of wholesale markets since 2016 and has worked for the regulator since 2006.

Kingswood

The international wealth group recruited Christopher Calvocoressi as technology transformation lead.

He joins from Schroders Personal Wealth where he served as a programme manager.

Ninety One

Global investment manager Ninety One has made two senior hires.

Pat Sanderson will take on the role of head of business development for the UK while Leanne Barnham as head of UK marketing.

Sanderson was previously at RBC where he was responsible for sales, relationship management and marketing for the UK and Ireland; while Barnham was at Architas Multi-Manager where she served as global head of marketing.

Rathbones

The investment management group expanded its DFM distribution team.

Matt Honour joins as a DFM specialist and will be responsible for relationships in the west of England.

He used to work at Timeline as a business development manager.
