Harpreet Bindra has been named as chief executive of HSBC Life (Singapore).

He will succeed Ho Lee Yen, who has decided to spend more time with her family, having successfully completed the integration of the businesses of AXA Singapore and HSBC Insurance.

Bindra joined HSBC in 2018.

Ocorian

The financial services provider has appointed Chantal Free as chief executive.

Free joins Ocorian from Capita, where she was chief executive of its portfolio division.

Sesame Bankhall Group (SBG)

The group has appointed Richard Harrison as chief executive.

He will join SBG from Wesleyan Assurance Society, where he is currently chief distribution officer.

Harrison joins SBG on 2 January 2024, at which point current interim chief executive John Cowan will resume his role as chair of the SBG board.

Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (Finma)

Urban Angehrn will step down at the end of September 2023 as chief executive.

It has appointed deputy chief executive Birgit Rutishauser as chief executive ad interim with effect from 1 October 2023.

Angehrn will be at her disposal to ensure an orderly handover of all business and for follow-up to the takeover of Credit Suisse by UBS.

The board of directors has begun the process of filling the position of Finma chief executive.

Amundi

The asset manager has named Pierre Jond as chief executive of Amundi Luxembourg and chairman of Fund Channel, the B2B fund distribution platform jointly owned by Amundi and Caceis.

Before joining Amundi, Jond was head of France and Belgium region with BNP Paribas Securities Services.

Jond replaces Jeanne Duvoux, who has been appointed head of business support and operations for Amundi Group.

Fairstone Group

Peter Donaldson has been named as managing director of the firm’s partnership channel.

He moves from his current role as a Fairstone divisional director. Donaldson joined the business in 2021.

St James’s Place (SJP)

Joe Wiggins has been named as director of investment research for the wealth manager.

He will join SJP on 12 September and previously worked as chief investment officer at Fundhouse.

Seven Investment Management (7IM)

The wealth manager has appointed Agustin Fernandez as managing director for corporate and strategy development.

He joins from HSBC, where he was head of Emea wealth and asset management wealth tech within the investment banking division for four years. Fernandez joined HSBC in 2011.

Professional Wealth Management

The IWP-owned firm has hired Alex Tait and Will Welch as financial advisers.

The duo were previously professional rugby players for Newcastle Falcons.

Ascot Lloyd

The IFA group has appointed Jaco Cebula as group technology officer.

For the past 18 months, Cebula has worked closely with the Ascot Lloyd team in his role as a technology consultant for Sionic, a global consulting firm.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)

The Singapore regulator has appointed Chia Der Jiun as managing director.

Chia takes over from Ravi Menon, who will retire from the Singapore Public Service and step down as managing director.

He is currently Permanent Secretary (Development) at the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), had previously spent 18 years at MAS, where he played a leadership role across MAS’ major functions, including monetary policy implementation, reserve management, banking supervision, prudential policy, and macroeconomic surveillance.

Nedgroup Investments

The global asset manager has expanded its international distribution team with the hiring of Rachel Ferguson as client solutions lead, effective September.

Prior to joining Nedgroup, Ferguson worked as a business development manager at Aegon Asset Management (formally Kames Capital) and was with the firm for a total of seven years.

Rothschild & Co

The financial services giant has hired Alfredo Pérez de Quesada Garrido as a senior client adviser in Spain.

He has over 18 years’ experience in the financial industry and joins from Credit Suisse (Madrid).

Also, Rothschild & Co has hired five client advisers in its wealth management business in Zurich, to focus mainly on clients from Central and Eastern Europe. The new team joins from Credit Suisse.

The team is headed by Gerold Reiser, who has over 18 years’ experience as a private banker.

Alongside Reiser, the four other client advisers joining Rothschild & Co are Maciej Wiackowski, Magdalena Majewska Koch, Viktors Bolbats and Lars Lang.

Square Mile

The research and consulting firm has appointed Maria Mealing as a business development director.

Mealing has over 30 years’ industry experience, most recently as associate director at Janus Henderson.

Walker Crips Financial Planning

Matthew Crawshaw and Kaz Dev have joined the firm as regional director for the Midlands and assistant director in the south west region, respectively.

Crawshaw joins from Abrdn, where he was regional director for the north and midlands.

Dev joins from Francis Clark Financial Planning, where he served as head of professional services and chartered financial planner.

Third Financial

The investment platform has named David Lewis as chairman of its regulated entity Third Platform Services.

Most recently, he was managing director at BNY Mellon in London.

This was prior to the Concordia’s plans to open an offer to take the Paris Stock Exchange-listed company private.

Concordia said it bought 8.18 million shares of Rothschild at €46.60 (£39.78, $50.69) per share.

The opening of an offer to delist the financial services giant will take place following a clearance decision from the French market regulator AMF.

The Rothschild family said in February it was seeking to take the bank private.

The financial services giant has three different arms – global advisory, wealth and asset management, and merchant banking.

The provider of international life assurance-based wealth solutions has hired Marie Salvo as head of sales for France.

She was most recently country manager of Luxembourg for One Life.

T Rowe Price Group

The asset manager announced that Robert Higginbotham, head of global distribution and global product, plans to retire at the end of 2023 after 11 years with the firm and 33 years in the industry.

Higginbotham, who also serves as chief executive and chair of T Rowe Price International, will be succeeded by management committee member Dee Sawyer.

Effective 1 January 2024, Sawyer will be named the head of global distribution, leading the teams responsible for sales, marketing, and client service globally across all distribution channels and will assume Higginbotham’s responsibilities on the firm’s subcommittees.

Scott Keller, head of Americas, Apac, and Emea distribution, will serve as the chief executive and chair of T Rowe Price International, and will report to Sawyer, while continuing in his current role.

Rothschild & Co

Matthew James has been named as a managing director and head of marketing and business development in the firm’s UK wealth management business.

Most recently, James was director of marketing and business development at Charles Russell Speechlys.

M&G Investments

Richard Godfrey is joining the business as chief operating officer for asset management, subject to regulatory approval, on 31 July 2023.

He joins M&G from HSBC, where his most recent role has been global co-head of the securities services and securities financing businesses.

Columbia Threadneedle Investments

Nick Ring, the chief executive of Emea at the asset manager, will retire at the end of 2023 following a 34-year career in the investment industry.

As a result, David Logan, global chief operating officer at Columbia Threadneedle, will be appointed to the new role of head of Emea and global business operations, subject to regulatory approval.

Collyer Bristow

The law firm has promoted Charles Avens and Charlie Fowler to partner, both in its private wealth department.

Avens joined the firm last year as head of immigration and will continue in this capacity as a partner.

Fowler has been made up to partner in the tax and estate planning and immigration teams.

SimplyBiz

The adviser support services firm has appointed Kelly Phillips to the position of business development quality manager.

The newly created role will see Phillips work closely with SimplyBiz member firms to help create protection opportunities and support advisers in meeting the expectations of Consumer Duty, with a clear focus on business quality to drive better outcomes for the end consumer.

Phillips was previously at AIG and Legal & General.

Capital Financial Markets

Peter Land has joined the firm as an investment manager.

He joins from Walker Crips, where he spent the past seven years. He has 40 years experience in private client and family office management and advice, having previously been a divisional director at Brewin Dolphin.

The team will create a private markets offering for its wealth and asset management clients, leveraging its internal expertise and product knowledge. Clients will also be able to benefit from Rothschild & Co’s Five Arrows suite of products through its merchant banking division.

The newly created group will work across geographies and divisions, sourcing investment opportunities in the areas of private equity, private debt, infrastructure and real estate, creating access, as well as investment vehicles and discretionary mandates for private clients.

It will be led by Jessica Sellam, who joined Rothschild & Co’s wealth management division in 2006 and previously led the private markets and business development teams for France, Belgium and Monaco.

Sellam said: “There is increasing interest from our wealth management clients in private markets’ products and we have a wealth of expertise across the group that we will be able to harness for their benefit. Our aim is to roll out the offering across our key wealth and asset management geographies over time.”

Marty Flanagan will retire as president and chief executive of the investment giant on 30 June 2023.

He will continue as chairman emeritus until 31 Dec 2024, providing advice and guidance to the company.

The Invesco board of directors named Andrew Schlossberg, senior managing director and head of the Americas, to succeed Flanagan.

Schlossberg has been in the asset management industry since 1996 and with Invesco since 2001. He has served in multiple leadership roles across the company’s businesses and locations. Prior to his current position, he was based in Invesco’s UK office as senior managing director, head of Emea and chair of the board of Invesco UK.

Before the UK, he served as head of US retail distribution and global ETFs and, prior to that, was US chief marketing officer and head of global corporate development.

Doug Sharp, senior managing director and head of Emea, will assume an expanded leadership role as head of the Americas and Emea, and global responsibility for ETFs, SMAs and digital capabilities.

Sharp has served in his current role since 2019. He joined Invesco in 2008 from McKinsey & Co and has served in multiple leadership roles across the firm.

Invesco also announced that Stephanie Butcher, chief investment officer of Emea, and Tony Wong, global head of fixed income investments, have been named senior managing directors and co-heads of investments.

In addition, Greg McGreevey, senior managing director of investments, has decided to retire from the firm. He will serve as an advisor to Butcher, Wong and the firm on investment topics through 31 March 2023.

Russell Investments

The firm has hired Zach Buchwald as its next chief executive.

He is the former head of Blackrock’s North America institutional business.

Buchwald takes up the mantle from Michelle Seitz, who left the position towards the end of last year. Buchwald will be tasked with overseeing the firm’s growth plans.

Hampden & Co

The private bank has named Peter Craigie as chief risk officer and Gordon Syme as general counsel.

Craigie was at Lloyds Banking Group, where he was chief risk officer for islands banking.

Syme has joined from Aegon Asset Management, where he was head of legal and regulatory (UK).

Legal and General Investment Management (LGIM)

The investment firm has hired James Giblin as a fund manager in its asset allocation team.

Giblin, who joins after a three-and-a-half year spell at LGT Wealth Management, will be responsible for managing a range of retail multi-asset funds, as well as several client portfolios in its model portfolio service (MPS).

LGT Wealth Management

The UK wealth manager has appointed Lewis Gregory to its MPS team as portfolio manager.

Gregory was previously an investment manager at Mercer Private Wealth where he was responsible for managing multi-asset portfolios and goal-orientated portfolios for wealthy UK-based clients.

Rothschild & Co

The financial services giant has hired Guillermo Moreno Fontaneda as a senior client adviser to bolster its wealth management offering in Spain.

He joins from UBS, where he was a director and client adviser, private banking Iberia.

Cohen & Steers

The global investment manager has appointed Sean Cooney to the newly created role of head of UK wealth.

Cooney joined Cohen & Steers in May 2021 as senior director of Emea wholesale distribution from Gam, where he was client director for the UK wholesale distribution channel.

Rathbones Group

Tracey Williamson has joined the firm as regional manager of financial planning, according to her Linkedin profile.

She will be based in Scotland. Williamson was previously financial planning director at Forth Capital.

Burges Salmon

The UK law firm has appointed Suzanna Harvey as head of its private wealth sector.

Harvey specialises in tax, trusts, immigration and estate planning for international clients (both UK resident and non-resident) and provides tax advice to a wide range of clients, from ultra-high net worth individuals to private banks and other financial institutions.

She has been at the firm for 17 years.

Melbourne Capital Group

The expat advice firm has named Elmira Donald as private wealth manager and financial planner.

She is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Donald joins from Infinity Financial Solutions, where she was financial planner and client relationship consultant.
