If the deal receives regulatory approval, US private equity firm Lovell Minnick Partners (LMP) will take a majority shareholding in the combined business.

The firm is currently London & Capital’s largest shareholder.

London & Capital chief executive Guy McGlashan will become CEO of the combined business.

“The merger of Waverton with London & Capital is a hugely exciting stage in Waverton’s evolution for our clients, our staff, and our shareholders,” said Nick Tucker, CEO of Waverton.

The UK lifeboat scheme has announced its chief executive Caroline Rainbird has left.

Fiona Kidy, chief financial officer, has agreed to step up to lead the organisation while it starts the search for a successor.

The Money and Pensions Service (Maps)

Caroline Siarkiewicz has confirmed to the board that she will not be taking up a second term.

She was appointed as chief executive in January 2020 having been acting chief executive since June 2019.

Siarkiewicz will step down at the end of January 2024 after four years leading the organisation through a period of significant change.

The search for a successor will commence shortly and will be led by Maps’ chair Sara Weller. The appointment will be subject to the approval of the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.

SEI

Jim London has been named as chief executive of SEI Investments (Europe) Limited (SIEL).

He will continue to maintain his responsibilities as head of SEI’s UK private banking and wealth management business.

London will succeed Brett Williams following his retirement, effective 30 June pending regulatory approval.

With more than 25 years’ experience in financial services, London currently serves as chief operating officer for SIEL.

Hargreaves Lansdown

The investment firm has appointed Brown Shipley’s investment head Toby Vaughan as chief investment officer.

Vaughan was previously head of multi strategy solutions at Santander Asset Management, a fund manager at LV Asset Management, and director for asset allocation at F&C Asset Management.

Marwyn Acquisition Company II

Will Self has been appointed as chief executive of the London Stock Exchange-listed acquisition vehicle.

He was previously chief executive for the pensions division.

Prior to that, Self was at Curtis Banks Group, where he was chief executive.

Waverton Investment Management

Steve Chhoker has joined the firm as chief financial officer.

Chhoker has close to two decades of experience in wealth management, previously holding senior finance positions at WH Ireland, Saunderson House and Brooks Macdonald.

He replaces David Welch, who leaves after serving 26 years with Waverton.

Axa Investment Managers (Axa IM)

Caroline Portel has been named as global chief operating officer, effective 1 July 2023.

She will take over from Laurent Caillot, who will pursue a new professional endeavour outside of the Axa Group.

Verso Wealth Management

The advice company has hired Jonathan Fell as group chief operating officer.

He joins from Assurant, where as digital, CX and customer service director, he led the digital transformation programme for its European operation.

Before his time at Assurant, he spent three years as group operations director at Succession Group.

Barclays Private Bank

The company has strengthened its presence in Asia by making two senior appointments in its Singapore office.

Tom Road has been appointed deputy head for Singapore. Having worked for Barclays Private Bank in London for the past 13 years, covering UHNW and Global Family Offices, Road has relocated to Singapore to take up his new role.

Wengmun Loh has been appointed head of dealing and derivatives in Singapore. Wengmun has been with Barclays since 2008 and was most recently head of UK direct access for Barclays Private Bank in London.

In his new role, Wengmun will relocate to Singapore and is responsible for building up the capital markets and trading capability of Barclays Private Bank, Singapore.

Abrdn

The asset manager confirmed that its head of digital solutions, Paul Titterton, has left the business.

Titterton joined the provider in January 2022, and was responsible for developing the firm’s digital retirement advice proposition.

A spokesperson for Abrdn told International Adviser: ‘We can confirm that Paul has left the company, we would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him well for the future.”

NextWealth

The research firm has appointed Emma Napier as consulting director.

Napier as previously head of sales and proposition at Bravura and head of distribution at True Potential.

Vistra

Jonathan Ferrara has been named as managing director for the firm’s Channel Islands arm.

He has held senior roles at various global organisations, including Bank of America, UBS and most recently Sanne, where he was managing director for Channel Islands.

Irwin Mitchell

The law firm has added to its high net worth and international tax team in London with the appointment of partner Matthew Briggs.

He joins from boutique private client practice the Burnside Partnership and specialises in personal tax, estate and succession planning for UK and international individuals and families.

Clarion Wealth Planning

The advice firm has expanded its team with the appointment of Bradley Peet as an associate financial planner.

He has joined Clarion after more than three years at Carpenter Rees.

The global wealth tech provider announced that its chief executive John Wise has left the company.

Richard Lumb, a current director on the InvestCloud board has been appointed interim chief executive.

The board also has initiated a search for a permanent chief executive.

Eastspring Investments

The Asia-based asset management business of life insurer Prudential has appointed Bill Maldonado as its interim chief executive.

Maldonado’s appointment follows the retirement of former chief executive Wai-Kwong Seck, who had held the post for four years.

Seck will stay on at the asset management firm until the end of June to support Maldonado and the team in the transition.

Maldonado, who joined the firm in August 2021 as its chief investment officer, will retain this role to “focus on investment performance”.

Prior to joining Eastspring, Maldonado served as both the Asia Pacific and global chief investment officer for equities at HSBC Global Asset Management.

Responding to queries from our sister publication Fund Selector Asia on when the firm is looking to appoint a permanent chief executive, Eastspring said: “We are undertaking a thorough process to ensure that we find the right candidate for the business and will provide more information at the appropriate time.”

Kingswood

Paul Hammick has joined the international wealth and investment management group as chief risk officer.

He has over 26 years of experience in financial services, previously working at Lloyds Banking Group.

Shard Capital

The wealth and asset manager has appointed James Bushell as head of operations.

Bushell brings 28 years of financial services experience having held roles with Walker Cripps, Lloyds Bank Stockbrokers, Brewin Dolphin and Fiske.

JM Finn

The UK wealth firm has recruited Danny Szabo as an investment manager.

Prior to joining JM Finn, he managed discretionary assets on behalf of private clients and intermediaries at Atomos.

Bespoke Wealth

The UK advice firm has promoted Danielle Pearce to head of financial planning, according to her Linkedin profile.
Pearce was previously head of paraplanning.

JP Morgan Private Bank

The banking giant has hired Kenneth Yeo as ultra-high net worth team lead for southeast Asia, based in Singapore.

Yeo joins from independent asset manager Lighthouse Canton, where he spent just three months as managing director and senior client partner.

Franklin Templeton

The financial services firm has appointed Benjarong Techamuanvivit as its head of Thailand.

Techamuanvivit’s role is newly created and comes as Franklin Templeton looks to expand its presence in Thailand.

It added that the appointment is subject to the approval of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) as she will be based in Singapore.

Prior to joining Franklin Templeton, she served as the deputy managing director and head of corporate strategy for product, digital and marketing at Eastspring Asset Management (Thailand).

Guinness Global Investors

The investment firm has hired Dennis Mehrtens as head of sales in Germany.

He was most recently managing director for the Dach region at Fiera Capital.

Waverton Investment Management

The DFM firm has made four hires to its Glasgow office.

The team, led by Graeme Brock and Roger Haxton, join from Evelyn Partners where they were both Partners. They are joined by Lauren Craig and Charlotte Ayre.

Brock and Haxton join Waverton as portfolio managers and directors.

Craig has been named as a portfolio manager focusing on running portfolios as well as managing client relationships. Ayre completes the team of four as the team assistant.

Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)

HM Treasury has announced the appointment of Sophie Hutcherson to the board of the UK regulator.

Hutcherson has 30 years’ experience in financial services having worked as senior adviser to the chief executive at Wells Fargo and held various senior positions at Deutsche Bank UK.

Barnett Waddingham

The pension consultancy firm has named Mark Smith as an independent non-executive director to its self-invested personal pension (Sipp) business board.

Smith has over 35 years’ experience in financial services and the personal pensions industry. He spent 10 years at Mattioli Woods as a main PLC board director, departing as chief operating officer in 2018.

Canada Life

The insurance giant has appointed Tim Coulson as managing director of bulk purchase annuities.

Coulson was most recently at Just Group, where he built and led its defined benefit de-risking business.

The investment arm of Octopus Group has appointed Benjamin Davis as chief executive to lead its retail and institutional fund management business.

Davis is a 12-year veteran within the Octopus Group and current chief executive of Octopus Real Estate.

He will succeed Ruth Handcock, who has been chief executive of Octopus Investments for four years, will be remaining within the wider Octopus Group, leading its drive to help more people get access to help with their money.

She will support Davis through a transition period in an advisory capacity and remain on the Octopus Investments board.

Handcock will continue to act as chair for Octopus MoneyCoach, Seccl, and Guardian Angel.

Progeny

The financial planning group has appointed Heather Ross to the newly created role of head of academy.

She was most recently learning and development director at Balmoral Asset Management – which was acquired by Progeny in July 2022 – where she was also responsible for its graduate academy.

Sigma Private Office

The Dubai wealth firm has hired Chris Cocker as chief investment officer.

He was previously investment adviser and executive director at UBS and Barclays Private Bank.

Waverton Investment Management

The discretionary investment manager has appointed Sarah Keltie as business development director to lead the growth plans for its private client channel.

Keltie joins from Close Brothers Asset Management, where she was responsible for the firm’s strategy attracting clients within the professional services sectors, including lawyers, accountants, trust companies and investment consultants.

Nuveen

The asset manager has promoted Romina Smith to head of continental Europe within the global client group.

Christoffer Hedberg, who is responsible for northern Europe, and Sergio Trezzi, who leads southern Europe, will report to Smith going forward.

Smith will continue to be based in Frankfurt and will still report to Simon England-Brammer, head of Emea and Apac global client group at Nuveen.

Artemis

The fund manager has appointed Alex Stanic to the newly created position of head of global equities.

This is following the decision by global equity fund manager Simon Edelsten to retire from the firm.

Edelsten who manages the Mid Wynd International Investment Trust and the open-ended Artemis Global Select Fund, will leave the fund boutique and retire as an Artemis partner at the end of 2023.

To ensure a smooth handover, Edelsten will continue managing the funds alongside Stanic, who joins from JP Morgan Asset Management’s international equity group on 1 March.

Stanic spent seven years at JP Morgan, where he led on the global equity funds in the Global Specialist team, including the Global Unconstrained Equity Fund.

Also, Alex Illingworth – who co-manages the Mid Wynd and Artemis Global Select vehicles with Edelsten – will leave Artemis at the end of this month.

The firm expects to announce shortly the appointment of two other new members of the global equity team. They will report to Stanic and work across the two portfolios and other global equity mandates alongside analysts Bobby Powar and May Laghzaoui.

Alex Picot Trust

Chelsea Ford has been named as a trust manager at the company.

She joins from VG, where she gained private client experience involving UK real estate and family office structures for an international client base.

Kingsley Napley

The law firm has named Waqar Shah as a partner of its tax disputes and investigations service offering.

Waqar joins from Mishcon de Reya, where he became a partner in 2021.

Oakbridge Wealth

The Jersey investment manager has named Charlotte Larbalestier as compliance officer.

She joins Oakbridge with over 10 years’ experience having previously held compliance and client data analysis roles with Canaccord.

Altum Group

Baroness Helena Morrissey has been appointed chair of the fund and family office services provider.

Formerly chief executive of Newton Investment Management, Morrissey currently sits as chair of Diversity Project, AJ Bell, and Fidelis Insurance having previously served as chair of the Investment Association (IA).

During her career, she has gained a reputation as a champion of diversity having founded the 30% Club in 2010, a campaign aiming to increase the representation of women on boards. Since launch, representation on FTSE 350 boards has increased to almost 40% from 10%.

Morrissey entered the House of Lords in 2020 after being appointed a Dame in 2017 for her contribution to improving diversity in the financial services industry.

Hervé Ordioni has been named as chief executive of international private banking and a member of the group executive committee for the financial services giant.

Ordoni is currently chief executive of the group’s Monaco operation.

In his new role, he will oversee the Swiss, Monegasque, Dubai, Israeli and UK private banking activities as well as the activities of wealth solutions, wealth planning and external asset managers.

Also, head of group private banking Michel Longhini has decided to leave the bank.

Bravura

The wealth tech solution provider has named Libby Roy as its chief executive.

Roy, currently non-executive director of Bravura, has over 20 years leading global financial services and technology companies and joins from Optus Business in Australia, where she was managing director.

She replaces Nick Parsons, who is stepping down from the role on 22 August 2022.

AJ Bell

Head of investment management Matthew Brennan has left the firm after just shy of five years at the platform group.

Brennan joined the firm in 2017 and was responsible for the day-to-day running of its multi-asset portfolios. Prior to this, he worked for Brown Shipley as a senior fund manager and head of fixed income research.

According to his Linkedin profile, he has joined Valu-Trac Investment Management, which provides authorised corporate director services, as head of investment oversight.

CCLA Investment Management

The investment manager has hired Sam Pennefather, Samuel Lynes and Alexandra Dacres-Hogg to join its retail distribution team in newly created roles in London.

Pennefather will join CCLA as head of strategic relationships from Jupiter Asset Management, where he worked for over a decade, most recently as director and head of strategic alliances in the retail distribution team.

Lynes has been recruited from Majedie Asset Management to join CCLA as senior sales manager.

Dacres-Hogg joined CCLA in April as sales manager from Muzinich & Co, where she worked in UK wholesale distribution.

Waverton Investment Management

The wealth manager has appointed Helen O’Loughlin as business development consultant.

She joins from Momentum Global Investment Management, where she was a senior business development consultant.

Eight Wealth International

The St James’s Place partner firm has named Kelly Greig as head of tax and estate planning.

Greig was most recently a partner at Paris Smith, where she led the tax and estate planning team.

Close Brothers Asset Management

David Mellett and Ben Staniforth have both joined the wealth firm as managing directors, each bringing with them over 25 years of financial services experience.

Mallett will be based in the north of England and joins from Santander Private Bank, where he was regional director across the north for nearly seven years.

Staniforth will split his time across the Midlands and south west areas and joins from Chase de Vere, where he managed a team of financial planners.

Franklin Templeton

The asset management giant has hired Gianluca Maione as head of intermediary sales for Italy.

Most recently, Maione was country head for Italy at Ninety One in Milan.
