The asset management giant has named Peter Hall as chairman of Schroders Wealth Management and Mary-Anne Daly as global head of wealth management.

Hall will continue to oversee Schroders’ global wealth strategy and to chair the Cazenove Capital and Benchmark Capital boards.

Daly retains her role as chief executive of Cazenove Capital, while also taking ultimate responsibility for the wealth management offices in the Channel Islands, Switzerland, and Singapore.

She will chair the boards of Schroders Channel Islands. Schroders Bank, and Schroders Asia.

Dominic Emmerson has also become deputy chief executive of Cazenove Capital.

Novia Financial

The platform business has appointed Lucy Bristow as chief customer officer, with immediate effect.

Bristow moved to Novia from the Wealthtime platform in March last year to take up the role of strategic partnerships director with responsibility for senior relationships with strategic adviser partnerships across the group and she had more recently stepped into the role of people experience director.

To support Bristow, Nicola Clark, who previously worked at Novia’s sister platform Amber, rejoins the business as customer service transformation lead.

Man Group

The global investment management firm has appointed Robyn Grew as chief executive.

This comes after Luke Ellis informed the board of his decision to retire.

Grew is currently president of Man Group and a member of the senior executive committee, based in the US.

She will take over from Ellis as chief executive as of 1 September 2023, at which time she will also join the Man Group Board as an executive director. While she will relocate to the UK following her appointment, she will continue to spend a substantial proportion of her time in the US, given the firm’s presence there.

Ellis will continue as chief executive and remain an executive director of the company until 1 September 2023 to ensure an orderly transition and oversight of the company’s 2023 interim results.

BNY Mellon Pershing

The provider of global financial business solutions has named Colin Murphy as chief commercial officer of its Emea business, effective May 2023.

Murphy joins from SmartTrade, where he was chief revenue officer.

The Openwork Partnership

The UK financial services network has recruited Warren Vickers as commercial development director.

He was previously managing director at Tenet Compliance Services.

Nucleus Financial

The adviser platform has appointed Heather Hopkins as chair of its advisory board.

Hopkins is managing director and founder of consultancy firm NextWealth.

Stonehage Fleming

Natasha Newell has been named as director to the group’s family office team in Guernsey.

She has extensive experience of offshore trusts, having worked as a senior lawyer for some offshore law firms, most recently Carey Olsen.

The Independent Investment Management Initiative (IIMI)

The boutique asset management think tank has named Dani Hristova as chief executive.

Hristova joins from Nordea Asset Management, where she was responsible for building the firm’s presence in the UK insurance market.

M&G Wealth

The advice firm has appointed Ella Hugh as its director of proposition and marketing.

Hugh joins the company from Abrdn. where she was latterly group chief of staff and head of client proposition having held senior strategy, planning and management roles since 2016.

Close Brothers Asset Management

The wealth firm has named Adam Finlay as investment manager.

With over 10 years’ experience in the wealth management sector, Finlay began his career at Capelin Financial Management, a West Midlands IFA firm, before joining Investec Wealth & Investment in 2016.

Tyndall Investment Management

The wealth manager has appointed three investment professionals to its private client practice.

Mark Jenkins and Dennis Cooper join the firm as investment directors, while Joe Holland assumes the role of assistant investment manager.

All three join Tyndall from Walker Crips.

Deutsche Bank International Private Bank (IPB)

The banking group has appointed Arjun Badhwar as the deputy head of its global south Asia team.

Badhwar, who is based in Singapore, will take on his role immediately and report to Rajesh Mahadevan, the head of global south Asia.

Julius Baer

Marcel Suhner has taken on the role of head of intermediaries for German- and Italian-speaking Switzerland at the wealth manager.

He is taking over from Michel Yigit, who has decided to pursue a new opportunity outside the bank.

Suhner has been with Julius Baer since 2015, when he joined the intermediaries northern Europe and UK business development team.

Since 2016, he has been head of intermediaries Europe.

David Reymond, head of intermediaries Apac and Emea, will take over as head of intermediaries Europe ad interim.

Progeny

Freya Robertson has been appointed to the new role of chief of staff to the chief executive.

She previously spent four years as executive assistant to chief executive Neil Moles.

Impax Asset Management

The asset manager has hired Leah Wood as global head of marketing and client experience.

She joined Impax in 2016 to build and lead the client service function in North America, and most recently held the role of head of global client experience.

Artemis

The fund manager has hired Toby Gibb as head of investment solutions.

He joins in June from Fidelity International, where he most recently held the role of global head of investment directing.

Also, Artemis has announced that David Hollis will take over management of its multi-asset, absolute return vehicle, the Artemis Strategic Assets Fund.

Hollis joined Artemis in October 2022 to develop systematic, multi-asset solutions for retail and institutional clients.

Evelyn Partners

The wealth management and professional services group has hired Ciara Oliver as a financial planner in its London team.

Oliver was previously at UBS Wealth Management and Killik & Co.

TrustQuay

The technology provider for trust sector has named Diane Betts as global head of professional services.

She previously led digital transformation and payment solution programmes for global banking clients at Fiserv and Dovetail.

Quilter Cheviot

The investment manager has hired Margaret Schmitt as responsible investment analyst.

Schmitt joins Quilter from infrastructure consulting firm AECOM, where she held the role of climate and sustainability consultant.

The office is being launched at a time when the asset management industry in Spain is “experiencing a period of significant growth”, the firm said.

Man Group said it has “seen increasing demand” from clients in Spain – and Iberia more broadly – for active investment management solutions in both the long-only and alternative space that “provide attractive risk-adjusted returns and portfolio diversification benefits across different asset classes”.

Hire

The investment manager has expanded its team with the appointment of Luis Martin as managing director of Iberia sales.

In the role, Martin will focus on developing and servicing relationships with leading Iberian financial institutions. With over 20 years of experience, he joins the firm from BMO Global Asset Management, where he served as regional head for southern Europe and LatAm.

The appointment strengthens the firm’s existing Iberian sales team of five dedicated professionals and includes Kyril Saxe Coburg, partner and managing director of Iberia sales based in London, and Tasio Del Castano, director of Iberia Sales, who has recently relocated from London to Madrid.

The local team, and Iberian clients, will continue to benefit from the support of Man Group’s specialist teams in London.

Paola Arce, who has been part of the team as sales director since 2011, has been appointed marketing lead with responsibility for Iberia and LatAm.

Steven Desmyter, global head of sales and marketing at Man Group, said: “There’s been an explosion of interest in actively managed investments in Spain, particularly as a result of the very challenging market backdrop this year.

Canada Life

The insurer has recruited four members to its sales technical team, supporting advisers on a range of pensions, trusts and estate planning topics.

Stacey Love, technical manager, has joined Canada Life from Crowe, where she was tax and estate planning manager, and prior to that spent a number of years at Legal and General.

Julia Peake is a tax and estate planning specialist and joins from Sanlam, where she held roles as head of life company distribution and technical development manager.

Ross Whittle is a tax and estate planning specialist and joins from Quilter Cheviot, where he was regional business development manager based in Birmingham.

Liz Hardie is a tax and estate planning specialist and joins Canada Life from Technical Connection.

Hansard

The Isle of Man-headquartered insurer has named John Whitehouse as head of change management and IT, according to the firm’s Linkedin page.

Whitehouse was previously at RBS International as programme manager.

Mirabaud Group

The current limited partners of the group will be referred to as Equity Partners from 1 January 2022.

The partners are Etienne d’Arenberg, head of wealth management UK, Thiago Frazao, head of wealth management Latam,

Alain Baron, head of wealth management Mena, and Andrew Lake, head of credit and fixed income at Mirabaud Asset Management.

Anu Narula will become the fifth equity partner of the group and the second from its asset management business line.

Narula is head of global equities at Mirabaud Asset Management, Anu joined Mirabaud in 2013 and is a member of the Mirabaud Asset Management Executive Committee.

Fairway Group

Dominic Coyne joins the company as funds director.

He was previously at VG, where he began his career 20 years ago.

RWC Partners

The investment group has named Sunita Patel as head of marketing.

She was previously marketing director for M&G Investments.

PGIM Investments

The firm has hired Sashi Nambiar as managing director, head of south east Asia.

Nambiar joins from Wellington Management, where he was managing director, global wealth.

PGIM Investments has also hired Wincy Mak as head of marketing Hong Kong and southeast Asia.

Mak joined from Abrdn, where she was head of marketing for Hong Kong and China.

Robeco

The asset manager has named Ben Rowley as senior sales manager to its UK wholesale team.

He joins Robeco from Amundi Asset Management, where he was responsible for the distribution of their product range to wholesale clients in London.

Man GLG

The discretionary investment operation of Man Group has appointed Yohann Terry and Jann Breitenmoser as portfolio managers in the firm’s equity team.

Terry joins Man GLG from J Safra Sarasin Asset Management, where he managed a sustainability-focused strategy investing in environmental themes such as water, the circular economy and smart mobility.

Breitenmoser also joins Man GLG from JSS AM, where he co-managed a strategy focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals as well as a sustainable European small cap strategy.

IFC Forum

Peter Tarn has been appointed as chair of the industry group for the legal, financial, and professional services sectors across the world’s international financial centres.

He succeeds Jack Marriott, a partner at Maples Group and head of Maples and Calder’s corporate team.

Tarn is a partner in the BVI at law firm Harneys.

The appointment marks Man Group’s first partnership in the US offshore space, and complements the firm’s existing third-party distribution model, which it has employed in Latin America for over 20 years.

Details

AMCS will work with Man Group’s internal sales team, including LatAm managing director Gadi Slamovitz, to deliver Man Group’s range of investment solutions to the US offshore market.

By leveraging AMCS’ distribution network with advisers at US banks and broker-dealers that service the US offshore market, the partnership will enable Man Group to expand its distribution network and reach a broader group of global investors.

Man Group and AMCS will focus efforts on the investment firm’s range of long only and alternatives Ucits funds.

Increase investor access

Investment manager Man Group has named Wall Street heavyweight Zoe Cruz as non-executive director for the firm’s remuneration committee, effective from 1 June.

She joins with more than 35 years’ experience, having once been ranked as Fortune’s highest paid female and included in Forbes’ most powerful woman list from 2005-2007.

Cruz spent 25 years at Morgan Stanley, during which time she was nicknamed the “Cruz missile” and “Czarina” for her unstoppable nature. She was co-president of the investment bank between 2005 and 2007.

After leaving Morgan Stanley, Cruz continued to climb up the Wall Street ladder and founded Voras Capital Management in 2009 and ran it as chief executive until 2013.

She now heads up her own single-family office based in New York, EOZ Global.

BMO Global Asset Management

BMO GAM has appointed Alice Evans and Claudia Wearmouth as co-heads of the governance and sustainable investment (GSI) team. The firm has also bolstered the team’s presence in the Netherlands with the hire of Pieter van Stijn.

Evans and Wearmouth will be jointly responsible for further integrating the consideration of ESG issues across investment teams at the asset manager.

Evans returns to BMO GAM having previously worked at the company from 2010 until 2016, when she was co-lead manager of the responsible global equity fund alongside Jamie Jenkins. Prior to joining the company in 2010, she gained 10 years of investment experience at Henderson Global Investors and JP Morgan Asset Management.

Wearmouth joined the company in 2007 and has worked with the investment teams and most recently as the lead on the responsible fund range as director in the GSI team.

In addition, van Stijn has been named a director in the GSI team. He has over 18 years’ experience in the industry, spending the last 11 years at PGGM as a senior advisor for responsible investment.

Prior to this, van Stijn was a sustainable investment analyst at SNS Asset Management and worked as a policy adviser at Wissenraet & van Spaendonck.

Ostrum Asset Management

Jean-Louis Scandella joined Ostrum AM, an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers, on 3 April as equity chief investment officer.

He was previously head of equities at Barings Asset Management in London.

Scandella is tasked with bolstering European and emerging market equity capabilities, as well as repositioning the expertise range to deliver the highest possible investment outcomes for clients.

He will supervise equity portfolio management teams based in Paris and Singapore, with assets of more than €23.6bn (£20.7bn, $29.1bn) managed on behalf of institutional clients, individual investors and distributors.

Janus Henderson Investors

Andrew McCarthy has been appointed to Janus Henderson Investors’ European equities team in London. He will work alongside John Bennett, head of European equities, as co-manager on its European long-only funds and mandates.

He joins Janus on 9 July.

McCarthy previously worked at USS Investment Management, where he was a portfolio manager specialising in industrial and consumer sectors.

Mazars

International accountancy and advisory firm Mazars has made two senior appointments to lead its tax teams in Birmingham and north west England.

Andrew Spence, partner and head of tax for Birmingham, has a broad range of experience advising clients from all backgrounds through previous roles at EY and National Grid. Spence will lead the various teams providing proactive commercial tax advice to private individuals, local entrepreneur and non-profits.

Andrew Westhead, partner and head of tax for the north west, will be based in Manchester. He joins from Grant Thornton where, as a tax partner, he worked in Manchester, Leeds and London. Westhead has worked with clients of all sizes, and has particular expertise in advising entrepreneurial businesses and private clients.
